2019 Magic Dry Northwest Nationals winners circle

August 27, 2019, Kent, WA-

Pacific Raceways is eagerly watching PNW Top Alcohol Funny Car Team, Disturbed Racing out of McMinnville, OR.

Owner, Alan Mascord says, “This whole racing thing has been quite a ride!  Finally getting a sponsor has given us new life — we were about to shut it down after the September Woodburn race due to lack of funding.”  Mascord continued, “Dan Provost with RAD Torque Systems as well as some other friends have allowed us to plan out a full schedule to close out the year and see how we do.  Next year looks promising too!”

Earlier this month at Pacific Raceways during the Magic Dry NHRA Northwest Nationals, driver Chris Marshall and the Disturbed Racing team took home a Wally after pulling 5.610 ET and 263.87 MPH racing against Doug Gordon.  Last weekend during the Lucas Oil Regional Drag Races at Pacific Raceways Marshall defeated Steve Gasparrelli running a 5.578 ET and 264.39 MPH.  Earlier in the season Marshall won the Denso Spark Plug NHRA Four-Wide Nationals with a 5.709 ET and 263.05 MPH.

When we spoke, the team was busy packing up for the Chevrolet Performance US Nationals at Lucas Oil Raceway in Indianapolis August 28-September 2.  Marshall shared, “Seattle is our National home track.  We won the National and Regional races two years in a row.  That is a pretty big deal to win four races in a row at your track… That’s pretty awesome for us!”

When asked what it’s like being a part of Disturbed Racing, Bottom End Specialist, Craig Larsen shared, “There is a high level of expectation, and everybody has to do their part in order for the successes to happen.  There can be a lot of pressure to do well individually and as a team.  There’s a lot of money on the line and not a lot of room to make mistakes.  While it can be hard, this is a dream come true for me.  I never thought I’d be able to do something like this, and I’ll do it as long as I can!”  Larsen went on to say, “It’s awesome.  The team is heading to Indy and running for a championship thanks to the RAD Torque Systems sponsorship.”

“We are headed to Indy to redeem the loss we had in the finals last year,” says Briana Marshall.  She continued to share, “The loss came when the throttle cable broke half track and the ‘to be crowned world champ’ passed us to win the US Nationals.  It was our first time in Indy and we had a stout performance showing in Qualifying and then to make it all the way to finals was an accomplishment!”

Disturbed Racing is comprised of Chris Marshall, Owner/Driver/Tuner; Briana Marshall, Owner/B.U.G./Crew Support; Alan Mascord, Owner/Fluids/Team Assistant/Social Media; Don Houser, Clutch Specialist; Chuck Rarrick, Valve Train/Bottom End Specialist; Craig Larsen, Bottom End Specialist and Bob Jerue, Crew Assistant.  Team members also work full time jobs and are thankful for the support of other friends as well.  Their sponsors include RAD Torque Systems, Boost Performance Products, Davison Auto Parts, Ridgecrest Homes, and Marshall’s Auto Body and Paint.  They recognize their successes are a joint effort of the hard work and support from everyone involved and are thankful for everything.

Pacific Raceways will be following Disturbed Racing and the rest of their racing season.  The team is feeling very optimistic.  Are we watching the 2019 TAFC National champ?  Who knows!  But we wish them the best of luck and look forward to seeing them again at #ThePlaceToRace!
