(SEATTLE, Wash) – A super majority vote of the King County Council will allow Pacific Raceways to move ahead with a sustainable plan that will keep the Kent track as a viable regional motorsports facility. The 7-2 vote (Monday, Nov. 23) in favor of the Raceway’s plan will allow the track to build and lease garage and commercial space to race-based businesses thereby giving the track the financial ability to move forward with its demonstration project and improvement plan. The plan was championed by Councilmember Pete von Reichbauer and received early support from Councilmember Rod Dembowski, chair of the Transportation, Environment and Economy Committee. Also voting in favor of the plan were members Dave Upthegrove, Reagan Dunn, Jane Hague, Kathy Lambert and chair Larry Phillips. The racetrack received support from a variety of constituents. “I would personally like to thank the hundreds of people who took the time to write emails and letters to councilmembers as well as those who voiced their support at the meeting,” said Jason Fiorito, raceway president. “We now have a light at the end of the tunnel that will allow Pacific Raceways to get on stable financial footing as we move forward with our demonstration...
