Raceway Development Project Clears SEPA Hurdle

May 1, 2018

Pacific Raceways is excited to report that after 10 years of diligent work, on Monday April 30th King County Department of Permitting and Environmental Review issued a SEPA (State Environmental Policy Act) Threshold Determination of Mitigated Determination of Non-Significance in association of our Interim Use Permit application filed last December. In simple terms this means that it has been determined that our project, with mitigation, poses no significant negative environmental impact. Pacific Raceways has applied for the right to excavate 1 million yards of gravel and construct 205,000 square feet of commercial/industrial space catering to auto enthusiasts, traditional motorsports businesses, and the Pacific Innovation Center. We are pleased to announce that phase I, 80,000 square feet of space involving 2 buildings is already reserved and will likely break ground in August of this year.  Announcements will be made concerning timing of additional space availability, but you are encouraged, if interested, to add your name and space needs to the reservation list accessible through our website.  We anticipate that the remaining 125,000 feet will be absorbed quickly. Thank you to all that helped, supported, and testified during the long process.  Although there is much more to do, this is a major... View Article

Saying goodbye to a longtime friend…

January 20, 2018

This week the racing and auto enthusiast world lost a friend.  Tom Armstrong (Issaquah, WA) was more than just a racer an d car collector.  Tom, a retired packaging executive, was also known for his savvy business-mind, philanthropic way of life, and mentorship to many. As lifetime members of the Society of Vintage Racing Enthusiast (SOVREN) Tom and Susan raced for years at Pacific Raceways in their ‘77 big-block Greenwood Corvette, ’63 Z06 Corvette, ’63 Split-Window Corvette, ’70 Webster CanAm, ‘68 Camaro Z28, ’69 Lola T-162, ’66 GT40, and the ’63 Corvette Grand Sport, one of only 5 ever made.  Having had opportunities to race at other tracks as well, Tom has gone side-by-side with names such as Vic & Christi Edelbrock, Bobby Unser, and more.  One such race was early in Tom’s racing history, the 1986 Rainier Vintage Classic race at the Tacoma Dome here in Washington, a race that has not been duplicated since.  Tom also participated twice in the Goodwood Festival of Speed in England, a prestigious invitation-only hill climb, founded by Lord March, Duke of Richmond. Tom was also a lifetime founding member of the SOVREN Guild, an organization that worked with SOVREN Race Club to... View Article

Building Project Filed with County

December 22, 2017
