(KENT, Wash) – Pacific Raceways’ popular Swifttool ET Drag Series will see a variety of changes to its traditional 13-race schedule in 2018. The series, which begins in April and runs through August, will once again feature the only guaranteed payout for racers in the northwest.
Partnering with the Kent-based cutting tool company will be Budweiser, one of the most iconic brands in motorsports. The Swifttool ET Drag Series Presented by Budweiser will include five Saturday night “Bud Under the Lights” races that will crown champions in Super Pro, Pro, Sportsman and Motorcycle in addition to the traditional 13-race championship series.
“We are thrilled to bring the promotional arm of Budweiser into the mix of our Swifttool series,” said John Ramsey, Pacific Raceways general manager. “Our goal in 2018 is to increase the fan appeal of the series and promote it using Budweiser’s reach throughout the Puget Sound region. We have some exciting fan initiatives that we are working on and will announce soon. Swifttool has been an excellent partner; we look forward to growing their awareness.”
Another change announced for 2018 is a mid-season champion for the four race categories. “We think that racers will enjoy competing for a points leader at the mid-season turn that will include a payout and trophy,” said Ed Garfield, drag race manager. “Running for mid-season, end of year, and Bud Under the Lights points championships will give all racers something to shoot for throughout the five-month series.”
For the second straight year, Dave Barcelon’s Truck Town will title sponsor the three Super Saturday races. In addition to the four ET classes, Super Saturday races feature five NHRA classifications: Stock/Super Stock, Super Street, Super Gas, Super Comp and Top Comp. “It’s a crowded drag schedule throughout Division 6 and we’ve had to be strategic about placing our Super Saturday races to make it easier for racers to attend,” said Garfield. “Having Dave Barcelon – one of the premier sportsman racers in the division – sponsor the series adds prestige to the events.”
