HondaFest NW Sunday!

(KENT, Wash) – HondaFest NW 2017 is this Sunday, April 9th at Pacific Raceways in Kent.  The largest car social event in the Northwest takes place on Sunday, April 9 as thousands of Hondas and other imports converge at Pacific Raceways for HondaFest NW. This event is unlike any other in the Northwest.  Tricked out cars from through-out the state, Oregon, British Columbia, Idaho and beyond will be in attendance.  From brand new Hondas to old-school and customized rides you will see it all.  Check out the latest in Honda technology; visit SpeedFactory to see the world’s quickest and fastest stock chassis FWD Hondas.  Along with the huge car show, lead-follow on the road course, drag racing, and vendor booths there is something for everyone. K&D Autowerks lands Junior Dragster sponsorship

(KENT, Wash) – Sumner auto repair shop K&D Autowerks has been named the new title sponsor of Pacific Raceways’ Junior Drag Racing Series for the 2017 season. The K&D Autowerks Jr. Drag Racing Series will feature 13 points races from April through August.  Drivers compete at races for trophies and for season points.  Top points earners in each of the three categories are invited to the Summit Racing Series ET Finals, which will be contested Labor Day weekend in Woodburn, Ore. In addition to the 13-race series at Pacific Raceways, K&D Autowerks will sponsor a first-ever Junior Invitational Race with a guaranteed payout on Sept. 10 at the Kent track. The Jr. Dragsters are raced by kids ages 5 to 17.  They compete on an eighth-mile track in three classes, which are defined by age groups:  Storm, Thunder and Lightning.  This year marks the 25th Anniversary of the NHRA Summit Racing Jr. Drag Racing League.  The dragsters go as fast as 85 mph and as quick as 7.90 seconds in the eighth-mile using a five-horsepower, single-cylinder engine, though younger age groups are restricted to slower times and speeds. Swift Tool renews title sponsorship

(KENT, Wash) – Locally-based Swift Tool & SwiftCARB will be back in 2017 as title sponsor of Pacific Raceways’ ET drag racing program.  It will be the fifth year that the iconic family-owned business will have its brand associated with the Kent track’s flagship racing program. “We are extremely excited to have Swift Tool back as title sponsor of ET racing at Pacific Raceways,” said John Ramsey, raceway general manager.  “The Swift family and Brian Lawrence have been integral in helping us grow local racers and NHRA drag racing.” Last year, racers in the Swift Tool ET Drag Racing Series captured the NHRA Division 6 Summit Racing Equipment team championship, which was contested against 19 NHRA tracks throughout Washington, Oregon, Idaho, Montana, British Columbia, Saskatchewan and Alberta. The Swift Tool ET series has a 13-race schedule for Super Pro, Pro ET, Sportsman and Motorcycle drag racers.  The season opens April 2nd and concludes August 26th and includes day races on select Saturdays and Sundays as well as four Saturday night races in 2017. 2017 Drag Strip Schedule

Pacific Raceways – “The Place to Race” – in Kent has announced its 2017 drag race schedule, which features two NHRA Lucas Oil sportsman races and a new Nitro Nostalgia Funny Car extravaganza. Anchoring the schedule at the fastest quarter-mile in the Northwest is the 30th Annual NHRA Northwest Nationals on August 4-6.  In addition to the Mello Yello Drag Race Series, Pacific Raceways will host a pair of Lucas Oil races.  New to the schedule is a LODRS divisional race June 22-25.  An LODRS regional race with Alcohol Funny Cars and Dragsters scheduled for August 17-20. The month of July is bookended by Nostalgia Funny Cars.  July 7-8 will feature legendary promoter Bill Doner’s United Nitro Funny Car Invitational while the GoodGuys Friday Nite Drags returns with Nitro Funny Cars on July 28. Also new to 2017 will be a series of “Light’s Out” races on select Friday nights during the summer.  Pacific Raceways’ Nostalgia race returns to the schedule on Sunday, July 9 and the largest import event in the PNW – Honda Fest NW – is scheduled for April 9. KENT, Wash. – It took a little longer than expected but winners were crowned at Pacific Raceways for the Protect the Harvest NHRA Northwest Nationals and the NHRA Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series as the father-son duo of Jeff and Cody Lane out of North Bend, Ore., led the charge with wins in Comp and Super Stock.   Jeff faced off with Ralph Van Paepeghem, Garden Valley, Idaho, posting an 8.055 second run at 163 mph to Van Paepeghem’s quicker but losing 7.275, 182.48 after the pair left the line together.  Jeff’s son Cody went 10.555 seconds at 124.33 for his victory lap when Darrell Stobbe, Abbotsford, B.C., left early with a red light foul start for his second win of the year having won the national event in Las Vegas back in April.  The win was Jeff’s second as well having won the Northwest division season opener at Firebird Raceway in Boise, Idaho.   Brian Phillips, Prosser, Wash., also scored his second NHRA Wally trophy in 2016 by taking out Mike Williams, Tilley, Alb.  Phillips was .013 at the line, then went 7.976 at 170.41 mph to win the Top Sportsman presented by  Phillips also won at Firebird...   GLENDORA, Calif. (June 13, 2016) – NHRA announced today that Protect The Harvest, a group founded in 2011 to assist in the fight for the rights of America’s farmers, ranchers, animal owners and sportsmen/sportswomen, has signed an agreement to become the title rights sponsor of the upcoming NHRA Mello Yello Drag Racing Series event at Pacific Raceways near Seattle.   The 29th annual Protect The Harvest NHRA Northwest Nationals presented by Lucas Oil will be held Aug. 5-7, 2016, an event that is a tradition-rich stop in the legendary three-race NHRA Western Swing. The race will feature competition in Top Fuel, Funny Car and Pro Stock and will feature live finals coverage televised on the FOX national broadcast network.
