DESCRIPTION:NW Alfa Romeo Club – Twilight Lapping at Pacific Raceways\n\n\n\nThe Northwest Alfa Romeo Club has been providing safe and fun High Performance Driver Education (HPDE) events to club members\, non-members\, family and friends\, and the car enthusiast community in the Pacific Northwest for over 30 years. \n\n\n\nOn Wednesday\, June 17th we invite all our sport driving friends to join us for an afternoon of spirited driving\, camaraderie\, and good times. This is a late afternoon HPDE event being held at Pacific Raceways in Kent\, WA. This is an open lapping format designed to provide club members and non-member guests the thrill of driving their beloved Alfa Romeos and all other vehicle types in a “spirited” manner on a closed road course. This event is open to all experienced drivers regardless of membership affiliation with NWARC or any other regional car clubs\, and an NWARC membership is NOT required. A 1-day temporary AROC membership is included in the registration cost for non-members for this individual event\, and you are of course welcome to join NWARC (AROC) and enjoy the annual membership benefits if you desire: https://www.aroc-usa.org/membership/ \n\n\n\nPrevious sport (track) driving and HPDE experience is required as a prerequisite for this event. It is critical that you have verifiable credentials from NWARC\, Proformance Racing School\, or any other reputable car club/organization for “solo driving” in either Low Intermediate\, Intermediate\, or Advanced run groups. At a minimum you must have solo sign off at Pacific Raceways. If you are not sure whether your current experience level qualifies you for this event or you have on-track experience that is not documented here on Motorsportreg.com\, please do not hesitate to contact the Event Registrar .  \n\n\n\n\nCheck-in:  Begins at 4:00pm\n\n\n\nMandatory Drivers Meeting: 4:40pm\n\n\n\nOpen track:  5pm – 9pm or dusk\, whichever is first\n\n\n\nRegistration Fee:  $250 per driver\n\n\n\nEach entry includes a voucher for a meal at track concessions. \n\n\n\n\nPlease be sure your vehicle is in good mechanical condition\, with no visible fluid leaks or loose parts hanging from exterior or underneath the vehicle. Check your tire wear and tire pressure the day before the event. Check engine oil and coolant levels\, and fill all reservoirs if necessary. Ensure you have at least half thickness on your brake pads and your brake fluid is up to task. All vehicles will be subjected to a basic technical inspection before being allowed on track. Please remove all loose items from the interior of your vehicle prior to arriving. \n\n\n\nIf you have questions about any needed service to your vehicle in preparation for this event please visit one of our local partner shops. In the South end please visit Bristow’s Exclusive Auto Repair in Tacoma. Each of these shops is owned by long time NWARC instructors. \n\n\n\nInsurance for your vehicle can be purchased through Hagerty’s HPDE Track Day Insurance: hagerty.com/hpde \n\n\n\nEvent requirements\n\n\n\n**CONVERTIBLES** Please read carefuly as this is a change in NWARC policy; Convertibles MUST have aftermarket roll protection. We can no longer allow convertibles without\, at a minimum\, an aftermarket roll bar which passes the broomstick test. Factory roll hoops are no longer acceptable. Targa type vehicles will be accepted on a case-by-case basis. Please contact the Event Registrar if you have questions regarding a convertible or targa vehicle. \n\n\n\n**PASSENGERS** Please read carefuly as this is a change in NWARC policy; With the exception of NWARC registered instructors passengers are NO LONGER PERMITTED at NWARC events. This applies to all run groups. \n\n\n\nThis event is open to all drivers\, 18-years and older with valid drivers license and verifiable “solo” sign off at Pacific Raceways from NWARC or other reputable car club or HPDE organizations. \n\n\n\n*NOTE: You must show your valid drivers license at check-in and before driving on the track (no photo copies\, no exceptions).  \n\n\n\nMore on Sport Driving: \n\n\n\nExperienced DriversYou are considered an “experienced driver” if you have participated in HPDE (High Performance Drive Education) or open lapping events in either the Advanced or Intermediate run group with NWARC\, Proformance Racing School\, or other reputable car clubs at Pacific Raceways. You must also have participated in at least two HPDE events at Pacific within the past two years. If you have not been on track in more than two years please contact the Event Registrar to discuss options. \n\n\n\nDrivers with at least two SOLO events on record at Pacific Raceways and moderate track experience are considered Intermediate. \n\n\n\nDrivers with two SOLO events on record at Pacific Raceways and substantial track experience may be considered Advanced. \n\n\n\nLow IntermediateWe will have a dedicated Low Intermediate run group for drivers who have limited experience on a road course but have been previously checked off as a “SOLO Driver” with NWARC or another recognized club or organization at Pacific Raceways in the last 24 months. If you have just recently gotten solo sign off at Pacific or feel as though you need a refresher on Pacific Raceways this is the group for you. If you are unsure of your solo status please contact the Event Registrar.  For those in need of a bit of instruction\, instructors will be available on-site but will only be available for in-car instruction at the instructors discretion. No passengers allowed except designated instructors. \n\n\n\nChanges in run group classification are the discretion of the Event Registrar. \n\n\n\nNumbersAs there will likely be street cars\, track cars and full race cars on the track at any time we will be assigning numbers at registration. Number selection is at random so please don’t expect to get your preferred number or use the numbers already on your car. You will be given a number decal to apply to the upper area of your windshield. This will be the only number the workers will use to reference your car throughout the day. \n\n\n\nHelmets and eye protection are required for all drivers. A number of Rental helmets will be available for this event. This is a fantastic way to spend a day getting to really know how to handle your Porsche.  For information about the PNWR Driver Education program\, go to the At the Track section – Driver Education area. \n\n\n\nRegistration\n\n\n\nPre-event registration is required and available online at www.motorsportreg.com/orgs/pca/pacific-northwest.Registration opens at 8:00 a.m. on 4/20. \n\n\n\nSign Up on MSR \n\n\n\n\nMinimum age is 18 with a valid\, non-restricted driver’s license. We will check driver’s license at check-in on day of event.\n\n\n\nMaximum of two drivers per car; must run in separate run groups.\n\n\n\n\nHelmets\n\n\n\nSnell rated SA2015/M2015\, or newer are required. A limited supply of rental helmets is available on a pre-reserved basis. \n\n\n\nTech Inspection\n\n\n\nEvery event will require a Pre-Event Tech Form completed within a 30-day window PRIOR to each event and emailed to the tech team no later 7 days prior to the event. This form should be completed by a certified mechanic or by the participant if he/she feels competent to do so. DESCRIPTION:Join BMW CCA Puget Sound on June 24th for our second annual Almost Solstice twilight HPDE at Pacific Raceways. Celebrate peak summer with a Wednesday evening driving your car on track from 4:30PM to dusk. Many of you have asked for an evening event. \n\n\n\n\nRegistration begins at 3:00PM with the track hot at 4:30PM.\n\n\n\nWe have 5 hours of track time so nearly the same as a daytime event at a much lower cost.\n\n\n\nThis will be a full instructed HPDE\, so instructors are welcome to enroll.\n\n\n\n\nSo take advantage of this unique solstice opportunity. \n\n\n\nCost: $250 for the evening\, including dinner. Note: MSR has added an additional $2 fee per registration unless you are a Hagerty Drivers Club member.  \n\n\n\nRegistration will close 4 days prior to the event or when the event reaches capacity. \n\n\n\nConfirmation: You be wait listed initially and confirmed as soon as possible given run group capacity and instructor availability. You will be charged upon confirmation. \n\n\n\nBMWCCA Puget Sound Region has provided High Performance Driving events at Pacific Raceway and other tracks for more than 40 years. We have a strong safety record and an experienced group of trained Instructors and staff. \n\n\n\nOur Values \n\n\n\n\nSafety – First and foremost.\n\n\n\nFun\n\n\n\nEducational – Emphasis on improving skills.\n\n\n\nWelcoming – Friendly and casual.\n\n\n\nApproachable\n\n\n\nInclusive – Open to all members with all skills and all types of cars.\n\n\n\n\nAttendees are assigned to run groups by the Chief Driving Instructor\, based on the skills and abilities of the driver\, vehicle\, and other participating drivers. Groups run from Novice\, where all drivers are instructed to Advanced/Instructors where all drivers are Solo. Others may be instructed or solo depending on driver skill. Passing rules vary by run group. Drivers are expected to advance over time with improving skills and abilities. \n\n\n\nFollowing time on track\, run groups will meet in educational breakout sessions for discussion about the track\, conditions\, traffic management\, driving theory\, and tips for improvement. \n\n\n\nSee https://bmw-club-psr.org/driver-education for more information about the HPDE program. \n\n\n\nCancellation Policy: \n\n\n\nAs a not-for-profit club\, it is BMW CCA PSR’s goal to provide exceptional events while breaking even financially. This long weekend is the feature event of our schedule and a top draw for vintage racers all over the country. \n\n\n\nDrivers\n\n\n\nIn 2026 we will be featuring the Hoosier Tire 2.5 Challenge\, the West Coast’s premier vintage racing series for historic B-Sedan cars\, celebrating the golden era of Trans Am-inspired competition. The legendary Peter Brock will be our special guest. \n\n\n\nAn all-make car corral and parade laps (learn more below)\, a great vendor’s row\, and other attractions help make this event special for drivers and spectators alike. Lots of seat time for drivers and special on-track activities during lunch guarantee fun for all. Pacific Raceways offers unprecedented viewing opportunities inside and outside the track in a beautiful\, forested setting. The paddock is wide open\, and the entire family can get up close and personal with cars and drivers. \n\n\n\nSpectators\n\n\n\nSpectators are welcome! Tickets are available at the gate and in advance online. SOVREN members who are attending as spectators must come through Registration\, or pay admission at the gate.  \n\n\n\nSpectator ticket prices for the weekend are $35 for adults (18-64)\, $20 for seniors (65+)\, $20 for juniors (13-17)\, and free for military and first responders with appropriate ID. \n\n\n\n\nRegister a Driver Now\n\n\n\nBuy Spectators Tickets Now\n\n\n\nBook a Hotel Now\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nCar corral tickets must be purchased online. The car corral ticket includes spectator admission for the driver\, and a separate spectator ticket is required for each passenger.\n\n\n\noffers the opportunity to participate in parade laps\n\n\n\neach car corral driver receives a special goodie bag (complimentary program\, dash plaque\, and more).  One goodie bag per car entry.\n\n\n\n\nThe specific definition of a car corral can vary\, but this is what SOVREN means by car corral. \n\n\n\nParade Laps\n\n\n\nCar corral parade laps are exclusive\, low-speed – under 60 mph – driving experiences allowing car corral participants to drive their personal cars onto the race track. These laps are considered a highlight of race weekends.  \n\n\n\nParade laps: \n\n\n\n\nare led by a pace car and offer a safe\, controlled way to drive the track firsthand\n\n\n\nprovide a non-competitive drive that allow participants to experience the track’s layout without the risks of high-speed racing\n\n\n\nare NOT hot laps; they are conducted at controlled speeds – under 60 mph – behind a pace car\, with NO passing allowed\n\n\n\nallow for passengers\n\n\n\ndo NOT require helmets\n\n\n\nrequire that all participating drivers MUST attend a mandatory safety briefing\n\n\n\n\nAgain\, the specifics of parade laps can vary\, but this is what SOVREN means by parade laps. \n\n\n\n\ncredit: DL Wechner\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\ncredit: Bill Dolph
