Pacific Raceways Invitational Road Race

October 4 - October 6

$5.00 – $15.00

4th Annual Pacific Raceways Invitational Road Race

Sponsored by Doxon Toyota

As synonymous as college football in the fall, the Pacific Raceways Invitational Road Race returns for a fourth year Oct. 4-6 at the venerable Kent track. This year the race is sponsored by Doxon Toyota of Auburn.

The race features a collection of west coast racers from a variety of sanctioning bodies competing in a wide range of racecars from vintage to open wheel formula cars to full body ground pounding stock cars and everything in between. Race groups are organized by engine displacement.

Similar to previous years, Friday is a test and tune for entered racecars. Saturday features morning qualifying sessions and afternoon sprint races for all race groups, while Sunday has morning sprint races and afternoon feature races.

Included in Saturday’s festivities is OktoberFAST a menu of Bavarian-style food and beverages, plus a car show in the paddock and vendor booths with seasonal items for the whole family.

The Invitational has become a favorite of racers from all sanctioning bodies including SOVREN, SCCA, Conference, Lucky Dog, Lemons and others. Racers like the event because they compete against racers they don’t normally race against. In addition, Friday’s test day is part of the low priced entry fee. The Pacific Raceways Invitational trophies are highly sought and race winners get a checkered flag-waving victory lap to cap off their race.

Fans enjoy the Invitational for the variety of racecars and drivers. Saturday’s OktoberFAST has become a fan-favorite for its Bavarian festival atmosphere.

The Invitational has a website with current information on this years race as well as past races and information for fans, racers, officials and sponsors. Explore the website to find more information.

Road racers have been competing at the Kent track since it opened in 1960. The 2.25-mile track was a must stop for its first three decades of operation hosting numerous SCCA Pacific Grand Prix and USRRC races. Carroll Shelby, Ken Miles, Roger Penske, and Davey MacDonald were regular competitors. Pacific Raceways also hosted a USAC IndyCar-type race in 1969 in which Al Unser was the overall winner and Mario Andretti was runner-up. The track was also a stop on the TransAm tour featuring the likes of Dan Gurney, Mark Donohue, Parnelli Jones and others.

Mark Doxon heads Doxon Toyota of Auburn. He is the fourth generation of family members that have been in the car business since 1938. The family has been a Toyota dealer for over 50 years. Doxon Toyota works out of a clean, modern facility at 3405 Auburn Way North. You can reach them online at doxontoyota.com.
