There will be big changes to Nitro qualifying for this summer’s Muckleshoot Casino Resort NHRA Northwest Nationals July 18-20. Saturday will feature three qualifying sessions of Top Fuel and Funny Car from 12:30 to 6:30 p.m. making Saturday afternoon must-see fan viewing for the 36th annual event.
nnnn“NHRA drag fans at Pacific Raceways are going to see something that doesn’t happen at other tracks that have a three-day event,” said John Ramsey, track general manager. “The three Nitro sessions on Saturday are really going to be a fan favorite and the fact they are so tightly packed together will create an excellent afternoon at the track for families and for our hard-core drag racing fans.”

Saturday’s tentative schedule has Top Fuel and Funny Car at the ready line at 12:30, 2:45 and 5 p.m. Pro Stock and Pro Stock Motorcycle will have two Saturday qualifying sessions at 3:30 and 6 p.m. All four pro classes will run the Mission 2Fast2Tasty Challenge during the final two Saturday qualifiers.
nnnnOn Friday, Pro Stock Motorcycle and Pro Stock will kick off the evening at 6 p.m. with two rounds of qualifying before the Nitro show begins with Nitro Nostalgia Exhibition cars followed by Funny Car and Top Fuel Dragster’s first round of qualifying that takes place under the Musco portable lights. In addition to the on-track excitement, there will be an autograph session, track walk, and Ben Bridge will be drawing lucky contestants to compete in the Top Fuel qualifying Tag Heuer watch give away for the low qualifier.
nnnnSunday’s schedule has the pre-race ceremony starting at 9:30 a.m. with the SealMaster Track Walk followed by pre-race ceremonies and first round of Top Fuel at 10:30. All four pro classes and sportsman classes have their final eliminations scheduled for Sunday.
