Invitational Road Race this Weekend

The 4th Annual Pacific Raceways Invitational Road Race is set to roar around the legendary 2.25-mile big track this weekend with plenty to see and do. The three-day event is sponsored by Doxon Toyota of Auburn and will include the fan-favorite OktoberFAST on Saturday with Bavarian-themed food and beverages. Spectator tickets are a low $10 per day, or $15 for a two-day pass. Friday’s test and tune day is free.

The Invitational brings together racers from all sanctioning bodies in the Northwest including SCCA, Conference, SOVREN vintage, Lucky Dog and others. Racers are divided into five groups: Vintage Small Bore, Vintage Medium/Large Bore, Formula and Sports Racers, Small and Medium Bore Sports Cars and Full-out Racing Machines that includes Grand Touring, Late Model and Super Production cars. Also included on Saturday will be the season finale of the Emerald Cup for Formula Ford and Club Ford racecars and the Wild West Sedan Challenge.

In addition to Friday’s test day, Saturday’s schedule includes qualifying in the morning with sprint races and the two featured races in the afternoon. Racers return on Sunday with 20-minute sprint races in the morning and 25-minute races in the afternoon for all classes. On track racing begins at 9 a.m. each day and spectator gates open at 8 a.m.

Along with Bavarian food and beverages on Saturday, OktoberFAST will feature a car show with trophies in six categories. There will also be vendors in the paddock selling everything from racing memorabilia and books to craft items.

Associate sponsors for the race include Knight Transport, Armadillo Racing and Pacific Raceways. The race benefits the charity Come Race with Me which champions breast cancer services at Multicare.
